You need a 5G-certified CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) router. Both MTN and Vodacom have approved device lists — using a non-approved device may result in the connection being blocked. We can help you source the correct device. Popular options include Huawei 5G CPE PRO 2, ZTE 5G CPE MC888D, and ZTE MC801A.

All 5G uncapped plans include a Fair Use Policy. Your service will never be disconnected, but after very heavy usage in a month, the network may gently reduce your speed during peak hours to protect quality for all users. The fallback speed (e.g., 2Mbps after FUP) is still enough for everyday tasks like browsing and email. Most moderate users never hit this threshold.

Setup is very quick. Once your SIM is activated (usually same day or within 24 hours), you insert it into your 5G router, point it toward the best signal direction, and you are online. No technician visit is required. For outdoor CPE installations, we can arrange a technician to mount and position your device for optimal signal.

5G coverage is available in most major urban areas across South Africa and is expanding rapidly. You can check coverage on the MTN or Vodacom websites, or simply WhatsApp us with your address and we will confirm availability. We will not sign you up if 5G is not yet in your area — we will recommend the best alternative.
